 This is
an employment entry course and is accepted as entry
into more advanced tertiary automotive courses. While students learn basic
workshop skills and safety, engine repairs and understanding
of petrol/diesel engine operation, considerable emphasis is also placed on
the core generic skills.
Career opportunities include any branch of the automotive
trade. Graduates have the option of further automotive education or entering
straight into the workforce.

| Core Generic Skills |
|
The core generic skills include communication, personal management, customer
/ work-mate / employer relations, mathematical and text interpreting skills
and career planning. These subjects sharpen the overall competencies
required for any occupation and give students a broader knowledge of the
workforce and the skills and confidence to find their place in it. |
| Practical Training |
|
Two days per week of practical work experience is included in the
course curriculum. This prepares students for the automotive industry with
hands-on training not achievable by text books. |
| Qualification |
|
This course is a level 1 National Certificate
which is an accepted form of qualification for entry into the automotive industry. Successful applicants will receive
