BIOSECURITY COURSE

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry requires that every Transitional Facility that unpacks imported sea containers must be approved and must have a Trained Accredited Person checking for contamination (as required by the BioSecurity Act 1993).

Mahurangi Technical Institute is an approved Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry training provider, and delivers training to accredit people for the checking of sea containers.

Qualification

On successfully completing the course, you will receive a Course Completion Certificate that includes your unique individual Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry Accredited Person Number.

Times and Venues:
The Biosecurity Course is currently available at the following venues and times:
  • Auckland Marine Rescue Centre, 3 Solent Street, Mechanics Bay, Auckland - every first Friday of the month, from 9 am to 1 pm
  • Tauranga: monthly (contact us for further details)
  • Central North Island: regular courses available (contact us for dates)
  • Wellington & Christchurch: by arrangement (contact us for further details)
  • Your workplace (minimum number of 5 required for Auckland & Tauranga, other centres by arrangement) - contact us to arrange a mutually convenient date and time.
Duration:
Approximately 3½ hours per course.
Fees:
2008 fees: $120.00 per person.  (International Student fee: $200.00)

This includes GST, materials, workbook and certificate.

Accreditation:

The Certificate is officially approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
