The
RYA/MCA Coastal Skipper Motorcruising course is designed for those with a knowledge and understanding of motorcruising and navigation.
This
Certificate of Competency allows the holder to skipper commercial yachts
up to 24m in length and to be Chief Mate on vessels of up to 500
tonnes
within 60 miles of a safe haven overseas. It consists of a 6 day
classroom session, an intensive 4 day practical period aboard a
powerboat (plus a 1 day practical exam), together with the STCW 95 courses.

Requirement: |
| Candidates
should have logged 30 days seatime, with 2 days of acting as skipper
and 800 nautical miles, with a total of at least 12 night hours.
Half of the qualifying sea time must have been conducted in tidal
waters. |

This
course is accredited with the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) of
Southampton, UK who will issue the Certificate of Competency.
Please note that as the duration of the motorcruising practical
is 4 days, a RYA Course Completion Certificate cannot be issued.
Only courses with a practical component of 5 or more days duration can
be issued such a certificate. |
