The Certificate in Finfish Culture is a 40 week distance learning qualification aimed at people working or wanting to work with ornamental and farmed fish. Students learn not only about fish biology and husbandry but also how to build, design and maintain aquaria. Plus students gain a strong understanding of the principles of water quality management, aquatic system design and construction, filtration and maintenance procedures. In addition, students will learn about fish nutrition and how to treat common diseases of finfish.
The course has a strong practical focus ensuring graduates have the skill level necessary to work in this exciting, fast growing and diverse industry, where there is a demand for qualified and experienced staff. |
Qualification:Certificate in Finfish Culture (Level 3 - Credit 70)
Entry Requirement:To study this Level 3 qualification you will require basic numeracy and literacy skills and be a minimum of 16 years of age at the time of programme commencement. Where English is not your first language, an IELTS score of 5.0 or equivalent is required. International students must be a minimum of 18 years old.
The Certificate in Finfish Culture Level 3 is a pre-requisite to studying the Advanced Aquatics Level 4 qualification. |
Fees:$NZ650.00 (including GST). Student loans and allowances are not applicable to this qualification.
Practical Component:As part of the assessment procedure involves the completion of observation records by a supervisor or manager, it will be beneficial to have employment in, or access, to the aquatics industry while studying.
