Perry Rd. Fish Farm

Originally owned and operated by NZ Waterways Restoration Ltd and currently owned and operated by Genesis Aquaculture.  Built by MTI aquaculture consultancy service team member in 1987.  Currently used for production of Grass Carp, Silver Carp and Goldfish.  At time of construction, this was New Zealand's largest freshwater fish farm.

EelCo

EelCo Larval Room

MTI Workshop

MTI aquaculture development workshop.  Filtration items, larval grow out vessels, food production vessels and complete aquatic systems are designed, trialled and constructed on site here at our Warkworth campus.

Planted Aquarium

Planted freshwater tropical aquarium (400 litre) designed and installed by MTI aquaculture consultancy team members.

Smith and Caughey Tank

1000 litre Reef Aquarium designed and installed by MTI aquaculture consultancy service team member. 

Perch Research System

Recirculating research system for breeding of Perch Perca fluviatilis and assessing their potential as an aquaculture species in NZ.  System designed and installed by MTI Aquaculture Consultancy Service staff.

Cert. in Animal Industry Services

New Zealand's first ever formal qualification in the area of ornamental fish and related aquatic subjects.  The CAIS, when combined with the National Certificate in retailing, forms the Certificate in Companion Animal Services, a qualification for the retail pet industry that is endorsed by the Pet Industry Assosciation NZ and supported by major pet industry retailers and wholesalers throughout NZ.  Both the CAIS and CCAS are delivered by correspondence throughout NZ and have in excess of 300 students currently enrolled (60% in aquatic subjects).

The CAIS Aquatics and Advanced Aquatics were developed wholly by members of the MTI Aquaculture Consultancy Team.  We can enrol you and your staff and/or design and deliver custom made training programs in the fields of ornamental aquatics and aquaculture.

Cert. in Marine Technology

This qualificaiton is a one year full time course offered at the MTI main campus in Warkworth.  It is designed to train people for a career in the aquaculture or marine biology field to the level of technician.  It is also a recognised pathway to further training with many past students going on to degrees or other higher level education.

Past students have an excellent record of finding employment in the aquaculture field with many being employed by fish farms, research facilities, the Department of Conservation and even in retail and wholesale aquarium companies.

The Certificate in Marine Technology was wholly developed by and is delivered by members of the MTI aquaculture consultancy service.
