The aim of this course is to give an understanding of the use of radar in small boats as an aid to navigation and for collision avoidance.
The course is conducted in the classroom and on the water over three days. The course covers:
-Basic understanding of radar wave propagation
-Radar set components
-Target definition and discrimination
-Types of radar display
-Use of radar as an aid to navigation
-Use of radar for collision avoidance
-Accuracy in range and bearing
-General safety precautions in using equipment
On successful completion the candidate will receive:
-RYA Radar Certificate
18 years + preferred, though 16/17 years old will be considered on application.
