RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Offshore – Sail

It consists of comprehensive package of a 7 day theory and intensive 5 day practical afloat training and includes STCW Basic Training. The 6 week package also includes an additional 5 days of practical sea time plus a 5 day radar course.

Qualification:
The successful candidate will receive:
-RYA Yachtmaster Offshore Shorebased Certificate
-STCW Competence in Fire-Fighting and Fire Prevention Certificate
-STCW Competence in Personal Survival Techniques Certificate
-STCW Competence in Personal Safety & Social Responsibilities Certificate
-STCW Competence in Elementary First Aid
-MNZ Certificate of STCW95 Basic Training
-Maritime Restricted (Radio) Operator’s Certificate
-Restricted Radar Observer’s Certificate (for the 6 week course only)
-RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Offshore Certificate of Competency. Issued to successful candidates by the RYA of Southampton, UK.
-RYA PPR Course

Duration and 2016 Start Dates: 2 February; 31 October Class hours: 8.30 am – 4.30 pm Class Size: Maximum course numbers = 4 Minimum course numbers = 3 Entry Requirement: Qualifying seatime requirements to attend this certificate course are 50 days on board a motor vessel at sea as an active member of the crew and a minimum of 2500 miles logged. To gain the RYA certificate candidates must: -Be aged 18 years and over -Have five passages over 60 miles measured along the rhumb line from the port of departure to the destination -Have skippered at least two of these passages (one overnight) -Have 5 days experience as a skipper -Half the qualifying time must have been conducted in tidal waters.

2016 Fees (including GST): NZ$5,675.00 *PLEASE NOTE: All listed qualifications and fees will be subject to change in 2016 based on the requirement to use new qualifications. Student Benefits: Student loans and allowances are not available for this package. Accreditation: This course is accredited with the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) of Southampton, UK who will issue the Certificate of Competency.
