RYA Yachtmaster Ocean Theory

The Ocean Theory course covers the art of celestial navigation, required for candidates wishing to work towards the RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Ocean Certificate of Competency. Elements covered include, setting up sextant, taking and reducing sights. Following the course candidates are required to complete a 600nm ocean passage and submit their sights and workings to the for assessment during an oral exam.

Entry Requirement:
Candidates should ideally have a sound knowledge of coastal and offshore navigation and sailing.

Fees:
Domestic students (NZ and Australian citizens): NZ$1,777 including GST*PLEASE NOTE: All listed qualifications and fees will be subject to change in 2016 based on the requirement to use new qualifications.

This course is accredited with the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) of Southampton, UK.
