STCW Refresher Training
Once qualified in STCW Basic Safety training seafarers are required every five years to provide evidence that they have maintained the required standard of competence in personal survival techniques and in fire prevention and fire fighting. Evidence that can be accepted includes onboard training and experience that has been properly recorded and certified.
While records of onboard training and experience meet part of the evidence requirement it is recognized that there are a number of competencies that require a dedicated training facility. Thus we have developed an MNZ approved STCW Refresher courses to complete the competency evidence requirement.
The courses are primarily practical in nature with a focus on satisfying the STCW Code requirements. Short theoretical briefings will also be included to refresh knowledge of procedures, techniques and equipment. Student assessment will be through satisfactory practical demonstration of the competencies required.
